©Better SuperVision

©Better SuperVision is a comprehensive skills training and development process designed to improve and enhance the abilities of union construction supervisors. This industry-specific learning experience focuses on:

  • enhancing supervisory competencies which industry and union professionals associate with supervisory excellence;
  • meeting needs identified by the purchasers of union construction services;
  • capturing the input and expertise of union tradespeople directly involved in the construction process;
  • creating opportunities to improve quality and productivity by improving work procedures;
  • making job site safety a top priority and a well-supervised action item on the job.

The ©Better SuperVision program consists of five modules, each comprised of three to six related lessons. A total of 72 hours of instruction are provided in 22 lessons. Upon completion of the classroom component, participants advance to three months of field performance evaluation under the guidance of an assigned mentor, applying the procedures and techniques learned and practiced in the classroom to real work situations.

Candidates who successfully complete the ©Better SuperVision program become eligible to apply for credits in the Canadian Construction Association's Gold Seal Program.

Courses run October to December, or January to March. Depending upon demand, courses are run in the Lower Mainland and/or other major centres throughout the province (i.e. Victoria, Nanaimo, Prince George).

The Five Modules:

2. Agreements that Work
3. Planning to be Productive
4. New Directions (Improving Productivity and Quality)
