We are excited to announce the launch of two new training programs for CLR member contractors and affiliated BC Building Trade Unions. Developed by the BCD&A Drug & Alcohol Program Society in partnership with SkillPlan, these programs are designed to support the Construction Industry of British Columbia’s Substance Abuse Testing and Treatment Program Policy. Costs are covered by the BCD&A Drug & Alcohol Program Society.

Program Details:

Level 1 – “The Policy & Testing Process”:

  • Format: Online
  • Duration: Approximately 1 hour
  • No prerequisites
  • Overview: Understanding the policy, its roles, responsibilities, testing situations, and key terminology. (Note: This level does not qualify for conducting reasonable suspicion investigations.)
  • Access Level 1: SkillPlan Level 1 Training HERE

Level 2 – “Advanced Testing and Procedures”:

  • Format: Trainer-led, in-person
  • Duration: 4 hours
  • Prerequisite: Level 1 completion
  • Focus: Reasonable suspicion and post-accident testing investigations. Successful completion leads to certification and a resource-equipped wallet card.

Level 2 – “Train the Trainer”:

  • Format: Trainer-led, in-person
  • Duration: 8 hours
  • Prerequisite: Level 2 completion
  • Benefit: Certifies participants to train others in-house, offering flexibility in scheduling and ensuring qualified supervision.
