CLR Connector Message from CLR’s President
CLR Members,
I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits as we embrace the vibrant energy of the summer season in the construction industry.
First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for your continued support and dedication to our association. Together, we have navigated a challenging period, including the completion of a rigorous round of negotiations with the unions. We are pleased that we have reached an agreement, thanks to the collective efforts of all involved. This accomplishment reflects the commitment and perseverance of our association and its members.
As we navigate through the core of our newsletter, I would like to highlight some vital topics that are paramount to our industry’s growth and success. We will delve into the pressing issue of substance use and related mental health in construction, shedding light on the valuable work carried out by the Construction Industry Rehabilitation Plan (CIRP). By addressing these challenges head-on, we can work to improve the safety and well-being of our workforce while fostering a culture of support and understanding.
Furthermore, our partnership with the BC Infrastructure Board (BCIB) allows us to provide you with updates on key provincial projects and the implementation of Community Benefits Agreements. These initiatives are intended to stimulate economic growth and foster inclusive and sustainable development, creating opportunities for our members and the communities we serve.
Additionally, I am pleased to announce two significant upcoming events. Our highly anticipated Golf Tournament is just around the corner. As usual, it promises a day of friendly competition, networking, and camaraderie. It is an occasion where we can celebrate our shared accomplishments and forge new connections that will strengthen the foundation of our industry. If you have registered, we look forward to seeing you at this memorable event, on Monday, June 19th.
Looking ahead, our Annual General Meeting and Conference in September traditionally serves as a platform for insightful presentations and discussions, educational sessions, and an opportunity of course to catch up with peers you may not have seen in some time.
I am pleased to inform you that this year’s program promises to be very informative. We have curated a full agenda that includes a few of the latest innovations and technologies shaping the construction sector. Our aim is to provide you with valuable insights and opportunities for professional growth and development.
As you certainly anticipate, we have also included a diverse range of entertainment and leisure activities to complement the formal part and enriching educational sessions. You will enjoy ample opportunities for golf, adventure, entertainment, and relaxation. It’s an occasion to socialize with peers, reconnect with old acquaintances, and forge new connections, all while enjoying memorable experiences that strike the perfect balance between business and pleasure. The invitations were sent, and we hope that you marked your calendars for September 14-16, to join us at the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort, nestled along the stunning Vancouver Island shore.
In closing, I would like to thank you again for your unwavering support, and I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events and continuing our collective journey toward success.
Stay safe,
Ken McCormack,
CLR’s President and CEO
