At CLR we are reflecting on today’s somber and significant speeches at the Day of Mourning ceremonies as a team. Hearing Premier Eby and Harry Bains speak in Vancouver, as well as Minister of Labour Seamus O’Regan in Ottawa, and Brynn Bourke, Leanne Hughf from IUOE Local 115 and Brian Cochrane discuss tragedies throughout the province and nation, was a poignant reminder of the critical importance of today and our commitment to worker safety.

One death is too many. We mourn the 175 lives lost last year. Today reminds us that worker safety is a shared responsibility. Prevention is essential—our work is not yet complete, and we are united in our commitment to this cause. It is paramount that workers are able to lead full, happy lives and stay with their families. Thank you to all the families and workers who stood up to share their stories.

Today, we redouble our commitment to prevention, honouring those we have lost by striving for a safer future for everyone.
